Hi all!
This is sortof a jokingly venting / am-I-really-that-bad-at-Google post. I’ve always been a fan of
!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!
, don’t know why, I just have always liked the added look. :)
So, in 2013, a month or so after I picked up my 2009 Accent hatch, I started looking to see if there were any available for my car as the MC Accent hatch came with a hatch top spoiler from the factory and a mid-spoiler would be a nice, unique complement to it. Now, the aftermarket for my car is VERY sparse, but I saw a mid-spoiler for my car in ONE photo that month in a Google Image search that I really liked...as it turns out, it is the ONLY mid-spoiler I’ve seen that seemed to be specifically for my car (that wasn’t a ‘universal fit’ one) and I have been trying to track down information on it since.
I’ve came across a few sporadic pictures of the same one since on a few different cars, but can’t find anywhere that sells it, can’t find any part numbers...nothing. The first picture I had seen was one on the back of an Apple Green MC Accent hatch that was for sale used at a dealership in Quebec. I, stupidly, never saved that picture for reference, but I’ve only come across two other pictures of the same kind of spoiler in my travels and DID save both of those. Both of those pictures show cars with Ontario license plates. The only information I’ve dug up is from a post on a Hyundai Forum mentioning that somebody remembered a them being fitted by some Canadian dealerships when the cars were sold new and he THOUGHT they were a Hyundai part. The spoiler in question:
I have tried repeatedly for the past few years to find more info out about it, but to no avail....it’s still a mystery to me! I think it’s a decent piece....not huge, not overdone, no fake carbon fiber or anything tacky....just a small, body-colored add-on designed to fit the contours of the rear hatch.
It seems almost like it was only something installed by a few dealerships in Quebec and Ontario in Canada, from my searching, so a VERY limited production piece? No idea! Just something interesting I thought I would share through impromptu venting! :)

And Hyundai North America couldn’t find the part? If they can’t, you can’t have it from them. You have to get one custom made. Someone would do it.
Or else you just have to sell the car.

Hyundai North America doesn’t seem to think it was an official part. Other places / people have told me it was. Others still think the dealers that installed it had it special-made in a small batch, others say it’s a universal part, but nobody can tell me for CERTAIN where it came from or any part numbers or brands....all I have right now are the pics. :(

I’m of no use in your quest to find the spoiler.
I do remember seeing those every now and then on 90s Civic hatchbacks, they didn’t look bad.

Possibly specific to the Accent SR?
V http://www.wikiwand.com/en/Hyundai_Accent#/Third_generation_(MC;_2005%E2%80%932010)
Google images nets a bunch of hatches with rear spoilers for “hyundai accent mc sr” (without the quotes.)

Nice try, but sadly no! The Accent SR never came with a mid-spoiler, but it did have the same factory hatch-top spoiler that the normal Accent MC hatch had.

This is not a universal part - look at the badge cutout. That ain’t universal. That ain’t even common. You’re not going to find that on anything that isn’t made specific to that specific car. And it’s not an official accessory either.
Whoever did this though? They did this right. Matched the paint, matched the cutout, and factory level fit and finish.

Yup...no idea if they are actual Hyundai parts, but
I’m definitely
thinking the one place I had read these were dealer-installed, specific-to-vehicle parts was right. That cutout is definitely too specific for another car - I completely agree with you (and have actually thought the same for years now, haha....but having nothing to go on, I was leaving all options on the table!
).

Yeah, the only car it could possibly be other than the Accent is the Toyota Yaris. But the Yaris glass is much flatter, as is the sheet. Plus Yaris has rear wiper, so it can’t be that.
I was hoping it was a Kaminari part, but no such luck. (Yes, Kaminari is still in business. And still producing amazing parts.)

MC Accent hatches like mine have a rear wiper as well. :)
Never heard of that company - neat stuff! I don’t know many body kit companies as I rarely look anything up from any....the aftermarket for my car is very sparse, sadly...
